When you start a nation, you can pick two luxury items that your nation is able to produce. You can export these items, and import different ones from other nations. The more variety of luxuries you have, the happier your nation. Sometimes, you may get the chance to choose another type of luxury to produce, if your economy is doing well. If you are at war with a nation, you cannot export or import luxury items with that nation.
Max and I had a discussion, with one problem involving this idea. If you are a capitalist society, then should you have the control to be able to choose what you export and import? It wouldn't make sense realistically. What does everyone think about this?
I'm happy with this list of 30. Before, I had said 50, but actually, I'm thinking that that is probably too large a number. It will make things more interesting if some nations produce the same luxury items as others. Then there will be a choice of which nation you want to trade with to get a specific resource, leading to competition between those nations. And a smaller number of types of luxuries will lead to more of that tension. If anyone gets a really good idea for another one though, we can add it. -Dnerb
